Section 4: First Aid Measures

4.1 Description of First Aid Measures

Eye contact Immediately flush the eyes with plenty of running water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Remove contact lenses if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.
Inhalation Remove the affected person to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. Keep the patient calm and warm. Seek medical attention if symptoms develop or persist.
Skin contact Remove contaminated clothing and footwear. Wash the affected skin thoroughly with soap and plenty of water. Seek medical attention if irritation develops. Launder contaminated clothing before re-use.
Ingestion Rinse the mouth thoroughly with water. Do NOT induce vomiting. If the person is conscious, give 200–300 mL of water to drink. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Seek immediate medical attention and contact the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26.
First aid facilities Ensure an eyewash station and safety shower are available in the immediate work area and are maintained in accordance with AS 4775.

4.2 Most Important Symptoms and Effects, Both Acute and Delayed

Contact with the eyes causes serious eye irritation, which may include redness, watering, stinging and blurred vision. Prolonged or repeated skin contact may cause mild irritation or drying of the skin. Ingestion may cause irritation of the mouth, throat and gastrointestinal tract. No delayed effects are known.

4.3 Indication of Any Immediate Medical Attention and Special Treatment Needed

Notes to physician Treat symptomatically. There is no specific antidote. Contact the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 for advice if significant quantities have been ingested or inhaled.
Specific treatments No specific treatment required.

Section 5: Fire-fighting Measures

5.1 Extinguishing Media

Suitable extinguishing media Use an extinguishing agent appropriate to the surrounding fire — foam, water fog, dry chemical powder, carbon dioxide, other inert gases, sand or earth. Foam and water fog should be applied only by trained personnel.
Unsuitable extinguishing media Do not direct a solid water jet at the burning product; this may cause splattering and spread the fire. Avoid the simultaneous use of foam and water on the same surface, as water destroys the foam blanket.

5.2 Special Hazards Arising from the Substance or Mixture

Hazards from the product Not classified as flammable or combustible. In a fire or if strongly heated, pressure will build within the container and the container may rupture.
Hazardous combustion products Incomplete combustion liberates harmful vapours, fumes and smoke, which may include carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and silicon dioxide.

5.3 Advice for Fire-fighters

Special precautions Isolate the scene promptly and remove all persons from the vicinity of the incident. No action is to be taken that involves personal risk or is undertaken without suitable training. Move undamaged containers away from the fire if it is safe to do so. Prevent fire-fighting water run-off from entering drains, waterways and soil.
Protective equipment for fire-fighters Wear self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) with full face-piece operated in positive pressure mode, together with full protective clothing including helmet, protective boots and gloves conforming to AS/NZS 4967.
Additional information Do not pressurise, cut, weld, braze, solder, drill, grind or expose containers to heat or sources of ignition.

Section 6: Accidental Release Measures

6.1 Personal Precautions, Protective Equipment and Emergency Procedures

For non-emergency personnel No action is to be taken that involves personal risk or is undertaken without suitable training. Evacuate the surrounding area and keep unnecessary and unprotected personnel away. Do not touch or walk through spilt material — spills are slippery. Put on appropriate personal protective equipment as described in Section 8.
For emergency responders Refer to Section 8 for guidance on suitable protective equipment and materials, and for additional hygiene measures.

6.2 Environmental Precautions

Prevent the spill from entering drains, sewers, waterways, soil and confined areas. Avoid dispersal of spilt material and run-off. If the product has caused environmental pollution, notify the relevant State environmental authority.

6.3 Methods and Material for Containment and Cleaning Up

Small spills Stop the leak if it is safe to do so. Move containers away from the spill area. Dilute with water and mop up, or absorb with an inert dry material and place in a suitable, labelled waste container. Dispose of via a licensed waste disposal contractor.
Large spills Stop the leak if it is safe to do so. Move containers away from the spill area. Prevent entry into sewers, watercourses, basements or confined areas. Contain and collect the spillage with non-combustible absorbent material such as sand, earth, vermiculite or diatomaceous earth, and place in a container for disposal in accordance with State and local regulations. Wash spillages into an effluent treatment plant only where this is permitted. Dispose of via a licensed waste disposal contractor.

6.4 Reference to Other Sections

See Section 1 for emergency contact details, Section 8 for personal protective equipment and Section 13 for waste treatment information.

Section 7: Handling and Storage

7.1 Precautions for Safe Handling

Protective measures Put on appropriate personal protective equipment as described in Section 8. Avoid contact with the eyes. Avoid release to the environment. Keep containers closed when not in use.
General occupational hygiene Eating, drinking and smoking are to be prohibited in areas where this material is handled, stored or processed. Workers are to wash their hands and face before eating, drinking or smoking. Remove contaminated clothing and protective equipment before entering eating areas.

7.2 Conditions for Safe Storage, Including Any Incompatibilities

Store in the original, correctly labelled container, protected from direct sunlight, in a dry, cool and well-ventilated area away from incompatible materials (see Section 10) and away from food and drink. Keep containers tightly closed and sealed until ready for use. Containers that have been opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Do not store in unlabelled containers. Use appropriate secondary containment to avoid environmental contamination. Store in accordance with State and local regulations.

7.3 Specific End Use(s)

This product is designed as a turf wetting agent, to be diluted in water prior to application to turf at the recommended rates. Observe safe handling practices and use the personal protective equipment specified in Section 8.
