Description

Coir Pith Growing Media – Ready-to-Use Bales

Coir Pith Growing Media is the same coconut fibre substrate commercial nurseries and hydroponic growers use for propagation, potting mixes, and soil conditioning. Available in ready-to-use 80L and 200L bales.

Potting mix dried out and won't rewet?

You water the pot, and it runs straight through—down the sides, out the bottom, roots still dry. Bark-based mixes go hydrophobic when they dry out completely. Water beads on the surface instead of soaking in. You end up dunking pots in buckets just to get moisture back into the root zone.

What makes coir different

Coir rewets easily, even after drying out completely. No hydrophobic surface. No dunking pots.

It holds up to eight times its weight in water, but drains freely. Roots stay hydrated without sitting in soggy substrate. The structure lasts longer than peat or bark, so you're not replacing it every season.

It arrives washed, screened, and ready to use—low EC (under 1 mS/cm) and a near-neutral pH around 6. No soaking, no rinsing, no prep. Break up the bale and go.

How to Use It

Use Method
Potting mixes Blend with perlite, comite, or bark for custom mixes
Propagation Use straight in trays or plug systems
Hydroponics Suitable as a standalone medium
Soil improvement Mix into garden beds to improve drainage and structure
Mulch Apply as a surface layer to suppress weeds and retain moisture

Good to Know

Coir is a byproduct of coconut processing—a renewable alternative to peat that's become standard practice in commercial nurseries. It's also naturally resistant to most pests and fungal pathogens, which is why propagators prefer it for seed raising and cuttings.
