Flinders Dolomite Soil Conditioner
Dolomite is a common rock-forming calcium carbonate and magnesium. A type of limestone provides valuable nutrients to plants and helps change the pH of the soil by raising it to match the plants’ needs. It’s sometimes called dolomitic lime or dolomitic limestone and provides more nutrients than straight lime.
The Effects of Dolomite
Dolomite is used to sweeten acid soils whilst at the same time providing plants with two essential plant nutrients – calcium and magnesium. Magnesium is an essential mineral for healthy soil. Magnesium-deficient plants are often yellower, have shorter root systems, and produce noticeably lower yields than plants grown in healthy soil.
Soil acidity is expressed as pH. The lower the pH, the more acidic the soil. Dolomite helps to raise the pH and assists in releasing nutrients trapped in the soil.
